A SHOPKEEPER is launching a crusade to help keep his town looking blooming' lovely.

Darren Turner, of Cartridge World, Rawtenstall, is teaming up with environmental action group Civic Pride to launch the We Love Blooming Rossendale' campaign.

The campaign will be run using a loyalty card scheme. Customers will receive a stamp every time they refill existing printer cartridges and toners at Cartridge World and for every eight stamps Cartridge World will donate £1 to fund Civic Pride's flower bed planting initiatives.

Darren's fight for flower power follows last year's successful tree-planting campaign which was run on a similar basis.

He said: "I have been a real admirer of the work Civic Pride does around the area and we are delighted to be supporting their efforts in this way.

"But there is another message that the campaign will also help highlight - recycling.

"People have a clear choice when their printer cartridge is empty.

"They can either throw the old one out and it will go into landfill or they can reuse their old one."

Jan Shutt, of Civic Pride, said: "We are delighted to be teaming up with Darren and the Cartridge World team.

"With their help we will be able to buy more bulbs for the flower beds around the town centre."
