A MUM was “just doing her job” by saving a pensioner’s life on her way home with her children.

Pendle Leisure Trust assistant manager Samantha Lamb, 34, who has worked at the centre for over 15 years, was on her way home through Barrowford after picking up her children from school when she noticed a crowd had gathered around a woman lying on the ground between Carousel children's wear shop and the Spar shop in Gisburn Road.

The mother-of-three, who is a qualified pool lifeguard and trained first aider, said she went into “automatic pilot” and “without hesitation” went over to help the unconscious woman.

She said: “I couldn’t feel a pulse but I could feel a faint heartbeat. She was fading away, gasping for breath.

“While someone called an ambulance, I began CPR. Once the ambulance arrived, I carried on with the compressions and helped to get her into the back of the vehicle. I understand from her family she is now on her way to recovery. I was just doing my job.”
