TODAY’S look back into the archives has revealed a picture which will stir up memories of the Lancashire Telegraph for anyone who lived or visited Accrington in the early 1980s.
Taken in 1983, it shows the main free car park in the town situated off Broadway.
The car park disappeared when the Arndale Centre was built on the land in 1988.
Car lovers can revel in the different makes and models in the photograph including the exotic looking sports car looking for a parking space.
On the left of the picture are the backs of Marks and Spencer and Woolworth’s and in the back right of the ‘snail shaped’ public toilets on Union Street.
