TEMPORARY traffic orders introduced after town car parks were converted to ‘pay and display’ have been made permanent.

In April last year, Blackburn with Darwen Council introduced a raft of restrictions on streets in Darwen after Atlas Road and Railway Road car parks were made pay and display.

And now the borough’s regeneration boss, Cllr Phil Riley, has signed off on plans to make the restrictions permanent.

No waiting, loading or unloading is allowed on Atlas Road, Kay Street and Richmond Terrace at anytime.

Waiting on Church Street between 8am and 6pm is limited to one hour and there is no return within an hour.

Loading and unloading is not allowed.

The same restrictions are also in place on Railway Road.

Making and advertising the order has come at a cost of £1,500 to the council.

Cllr Riley said: “As a result of a decision to make Atlas Road and Railway Road car parks into pay and display car parks, an experimental order was introduced as detailed in the summary above. The order has been operating since April 2017 and we are now in a position to make the order permanent.”
