A HOME furnishing distributor has raised raised vital funds for a hospice.

Clarke & Clarke raised £1,000 for Rossendale Hospice during their annual staff auction.

The event saw pieces of furniture which had been used at trade shows throughout the year donated to be sold at auction.

The Haslingden based company then decided to donate the money raised to a local charity and Rossendale Hospice was their charity of choice.

Nicola Walsh, Human Resources Manager said “We saw this as an opportunity to make something good from the items we no longer needed.

“Staff were able to place bids on some excellent pieces of designer furniture.

“They also made money for a local charity, which was close to their hearts.”

Rossendale Hospice offers a range of services to patients and their families living with a life-limiting condition; both cancer and non-cancer related.

The hospice receives some statutory funding but need to raise just under a million pounds every year to continue to provide their services .

Clare Richards, Head of Fundraising at Rossendale Hospice said “We are very grateful to the staff at Clarke & Clarke for choosing to support Rossendale Hospice.

“And for helping to make sure we continue the vital services which are relied upon by many patients and their families.”
