A HOSPITAL staff member has won an award in midwifery leadership.
Emma Gornall, delivery suite ward manager at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has won the Midwifery Leadership award.
She secured the accolade in the British Journal of Midwifery Practice Awards 2018.
Ms Gornall said: "Since coming into post, myself and my team have been working with the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) as part of the better births by co-design project.
"Being part of this project has been a fantastic opportunity and we are one of only two trusts within the UK to be selected to participate in this project."
Alice Du Preez, one of the midwives in her team, who nominated her for the award, said: "We are ecstatic that Emma has won this award in the annual British Journal of Midwifery awards this year. "
The awards recognise outstanding achievements in midwifery.
