PUPILS celebrated the magic of Harry Potter.

Pupils at Fearns Community Sports College, Stacksteads took part in the national celebration with events taking place throughout the school day.

Librarian Kath Humphries said: “Pupils started off completing wordsearches in form time and then held a bake sale to raise money for library books and face painted Harry Potter scars and glasses on pupils’ cheeks.

“After school we had a celebration where pupils could dress up and we began the party with a Sorting Hat Ceremony where pupils were put into the four houses.

“They then did a quiz and we read a section from the Prisoner of Azkaban because the theme was Fantastic Beasts.”

Ahead of the day, Mrs Humphries bought a new selection of Harry Potter books for the library.

Jamie-Leigh Riley, 11, said: “I really enjoyed the party. I have seen some of the Harry Potter films and read some of the books, but I like reading non-fiction books better than fiction.”
