A TOWN centre bar has put new policies in place following the death of a 23-year-old who was stabbed in the neck with a champagne glass.

Darwen-based bar The Vault took to Facebook to share their updated policies after Jay Jay Taylor was killed following a serious assault at Esco-Bar, in Darwen, just after 1am on Sunday.

The statement read: "As we reflect on the events that took place last weekend we want to take a moment to send our heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of Jay Jay Taylor.

"At 23 years old his life should just be starting. As a Darwen bar we’ve spent the last few days reviewing our policies to make sure that we are doing absolutely everything we can to keep our clients safe inside and outside of our venue.

"The Vault operates a strict no glass outside of the venue policy and have door staff on Friday and Saturday evenings.

"We will refuse to serve anyone who we believe has had too much to drink and we have challenge 25 in operation.

"If someone is in an uncomfortable situation whether it’s a date going wrong or you’re worried that your friends may get you in trouble, you can ask any of out staff for ‘Angela’ and we’ll make sure you get safely in a cab home and away from that situation.

"If a fight breaks out in our bar we will call the police. No exceptions.

"We want everyone to have a fun, enjoyable, safe, secure time here at The Vault and we are not prepared to risk the safety of our customers under any circumstances."
