A MOTORIST had a car door repeatedly slammed into his leg in a road rage attack.

The 37-year-old victim from Bacup, was driving down Manchester Road towards Burnley town centre at 8.10am on Friday when a wagon hit the back of his car.

Police said the seven-and-a-half ton flat bed wagon hit the victim's blue Renault Laguna at the traffic lights at the junction with Rumleys Fold.

The wagon driver then got out of the vehicle and made threats to the driver before getting back in the wagon, police said.

But as the wagon driver was getting back in the vehicle, police said he saw the victim getting out of his car.

Officers said the wagon driver then turned around and went back. He slammed the door of the Laguna several times on the driver's leg, police said, before kicking the car door.

The victim was left with minor injuries but was said to have been shaken by the attack.

Inspector Dave Croll, of Burnley police, said: "Bearing in mind the time of day and location of the incident, we would appeal to any witnesses who may have been in the area to come forward.

"The victim told us that quite a few vehicles drove past."

Police are looking for a white man around 5ft8in tall and aged between 40 and 45. He has short brown hair, is of untidy appearance with bad teeth.
