A 16-YEAR-OLD boy told his sister to come and collect her dog “immediately” or he would set fire to the house.

And when officers arrived at the house in Padiham they saw the boy sitting in a smoke-filled room.

The teenager, who can’t be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to arson. He was remitted on bail to the Youth Court to be sentenced.

The court was told the boy had set fire to his sister’s dressing gown and some fire damage had been caused to the floor.

Keith Rennison, defending, said the boy had only intended to burn a hole in the dressing gown and had never intended to cause any damage in the house.

“He wanted to do something to get his sister to come and collect the dog,” he said.
