A 12-YEAR-OLD pupil at Mount Carmel RC High School, Accrington, only attended 28 per cent of lessons in a six-month period, a court was told.
Hyndburn magistrates heard that education welfare officers got no co-operation from the boy's parents in trying to resolve the situation.
The only explanation put forward was a comment by the boy's father that he was being bullied. Allegations that Michael and Jennifer Arbuary, of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, failed to secure their child's regular attendance at school were proved in their absence.
They were each fined £200 and ordered to pay £75 costs.
Julie Lloyd, prosecuting, said the boy had attended 51 out of a possible 182 sessions in a six-month period.
