AFTER the opening of the new £8.6 million Raza Jamia Masjid we take a look at some of the region's other major mosque projects.

The Raza Jamia Mosque which opened in December in Accrington is the most expensive project in recent years.

Many new mosques have been built on land where there was already a mosque and cater for worshippers who live within walking distance of the building.

With construction costs going up year upon year all mosques have been funded independently through donations from the communities they serve.
