PATROL units hid from view to monitor motorists speeding in a town.
Longridge officers were parked up hiding near the Old Oak pub, on Preston Road, to check for speeding cars in the area.
A number of cars were stopped towards Grimsargh with tickets being given for a variety of offences including no MOT, no insurance, driving without due care and mobile phone use, police said.
Officers said other drivers were told their vehicles could be seized if they were caught driving in an 'anti social manner' again.
There were three vehicles which failed to stop and enquiries are ongoing with these, police added.
A police spokesman said: "It’s only a small start but will hopefully make motorists think twice about their speed.
"Those who complain about us giving tickets especially this close to Christmas, I would rather give a ticket out now with a small fine, than have to knock on a parents door telling them their loved one is dead due to a speeding motorist or otherwise."
