DETECTIVES are asking for the public's help in investigating two suspected incidents of domestic violence.

In the first flare-up a woman, aged around 25, was hit in the face on a number of occasions by her older partner at the Shadsworth Road service station, just after midnight on Monday.

The violence ceased and the pair then drove off in a dark-coloured saloon car.

The woman is said to be around 5ft 5ins, with distinctive blonde bobbed hair, in a spiral perm style. She wore a cream-coloured top. Her partner was around 6ft, around 40, with short cropped dark hair. He wore a dark zipped-up tracksuit top and blue jeans.

At around 3.20am yesterday police were alerted to another incident in West Park Road, near Corporation Park.

Witnesses saw a 19-year-old woman manhandled out of a car, which drove off towards Newbank Road. She was distressed and told passers-by she was pregnant.

Appearing disorientated, she also told concerned witnesses that she needed to reach an address in Feilden Street.

She is known to have passed the entrance to Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School and was last seen heading towards Preston New Road. Det Insp Paul Withers, of Blackburn CID, said: "We will not tolerate any incidents of domestic violence and will treat all calls regarding these matters sensitively."
