For some, Donald Trump re-tweeting posts shared by Britain First Deputy Leader Jayda Fransen might be going too far.

Earlier today, the President in his infinite wisdom re-tweeted posts posts included unverified videos titled "Muslim Destroys a Statue of Virgin Mary!" and "Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches!"

It is indeed shocking that the President of the United States is now openly re-tweeting posts by the deputy leader of right-wing extremist organisation.

Britain First has for many years targeted Muslims in an openly hostile manner sharing clearly racist material. A quick scan across their Facebook page and you can see hundreds of anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant messages.

The group and supporters do not hide their disdain and hatred of Muslims and immigrants.

Opinions tend to blame Muslims for almost any problem on the planet and the messages call for immigrants to be forced out of the country.

Some of you might think the President of the United States is very stupid for endorsing such views but for those who have been here before they will know he is simply playing up to his audience.

One of two things are guaranteed. Firstly, he will ensure he is on every news channel across the western world for the remainder of the day and secondly, he has helped to allay any fears by voters and supporters who thought he may well have gone soft on plans to tackle ‘radical Islam’.

The danger here is that we have a President who has now endorsed a right-wing organisation that has in the past among other things invaded mosques and launched campaigns against Islam across the UK.

But it does not stop there, by re-drawing the line of what is and what is not acceptable the President has helped to bring into the mainstream extreme right-wing views.

If one is to now scan through some newspaper websites you are likely to find comments from people stating that there is nothing wrong with the actual posts.

People may well disagree with Britain First but there was nothing remotely wrong with sharing news about Muslim atrocities even if these points were greatly exaggerated.

Does it matter that these videos are not verified and does it matter that that these are criminal acts conducted by people who just happen to be Muslim?

It has also allowed Jayda Fransen to showcase herself as the friendly face of the anti-Muslim rhetoric. Here, the organisation boasted how she was being interviewed on CBS.

The group was quick to capitalise on this new found endorsement and now features a picture of the President and 'hero' on their homepage.

The aim has always been for many right-wing or for that matter of fact any extremist organisation to gain bona fide press in the mainstream and help to ingrain their views in the public consciousness.

The right-wing media may well be a tad shocked at Trump’s latest Twitter PR triumph but when you continue to move the line between what is acceptable and what is not - then don’t be surprised when the most powerful man on the planet decides to take that line a little further.

Did I ever think there would come a day when I would be speaking of the President of the United States and Britain First in the same sentence? Never but here it is.
