EAST Lancashire MP Jake Berry has moved in with a new partner and fathered a baby boy.

In September last year, the Rossendale and Darwen Tory revealed he had split from his wife Charlotte and the couple, who married in 2009, had divorced.

This morning details of his new relationship with Alice Robinson, an assistant to Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, were revealed in a national newspaper.

The article attempted to link the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ minister’s new relationship to recent allegations about MPs’ behaviour at Westminster.

Mr Berry, 38, last night issued a statement to the Lancashire Telegraph: “Like many other single people, we met at work, moved in together and it’s brilliant that we’ve been blessed with our beautiful baby boy.

“Comparing a happy loving relationship with allegations of inappropriate behaviour is completely unacceptable.

“As a couple we are shocked and embarrassed to have our permanent relationship appear in this article.”

Mr Berry won the marginal seat in 2010 and has held it in two General Elections since.

In June he was appointed by Prime Minister Theresa May as ‘Northern Powerhouse’ minister in the Department for Communities and Local Government.
