A ‘WONDERFUL daughter’ who was killed when her car crashed into a tree has been named.

Mum-of-one Holly Carter, 21, from Darwen, was pronounced dead at the scene after her white Vauxhall Corsa struck a tree close to the Bentley Wood Farm pub shortly before 6am yesterday.

The road was closed off for more than five hours while police investigated how the incident happened.

Gail Kirby, Holly's mum, said her daughter was a friend to everyone who knew her.

She said: "My wonderful daughter Holly, the most loving mother to three-year-old Ethan, a fantastic sister to seven-year-old Bethany and brother Daniel, 20, and a loving partner to Brian.

"She had such a pleasant loving personality.

"She was so looking forward to her foreign holidays in November.

"She loved the outdoors especially walking in the Lake District when she was young.

"She was an outdoor girl who loved animals and music.

"She will be sadly missed by her grandparents, step dad, aunties and uncles and her work colleagues."

The road was closed from the Hapton Inn at the junction of Manchester Road, to where Accrington Road meets the roundabout near the Network 65 Business Park.

Motorists were being asked to find alternative routes while the road was closed and the Burnley Bus Company tweeted to its users to say their buses were delayed due to the crash.
