A WARNING has been issued by police after 'a number' of house burglaries.
Officers were called to burglaries and attempted burglaries in Rossendale around the Haslingden, Helmshore and Crawshawbooth areas on Monday.
Police said each incident happened during the day and involved culprits trying to get into properties by smashing windows or doors with a brick.
People have been advised to check alarms and keep valuables safe by officers as they look to increase patrols in the area.
A police spokesman said: "There will be an increased police presence in the area both uniformed and covert over the next few days.
"This is an excellent time of the year to check your lights and alarms are working and obviously ensure windows, doors and side gates are locked.
"Please look after yourselves and your neighbours by keeping an eye out and reporting any suspicious activity."
Anyone with any information can contact the police on 101.
