Pupils in Years 8 and ten at Fearns Community Sports College in Stacksteads have undertaken Heartstring training to ensure they know how to save a life before they leave school.

Teaching Assistant Debbie Thompson said: “We have had all of the Year 10s and Year 8s go through a full day of Heartstart training.

“We teach them how to cope with a serious bleed, choking, heart attack and how to perform CPR.

“We teach a full day course in Year 8 and then again in Year 10 so that it has been reinforced before they leave school the following year.”

All of the pupils received a British Heart Foundation Heartstart certificate after their course.
