AN INQUEST into the death of a toddler has been postponed.
Two-year-old Teegan Mai Pennell died on October 24 last year.
At a pre-inquest review held at Blackburn Town Hall Simon Jones, coroner for Hyndburn, Blackburn and the Ribble Valley, approved a request from the family’s barrister Andrew Brigman, to call a paediatric doctor as an expert witness.
Mr Jones declined a request from Mr Brigman to consider an jury inquest, which looks at the broader circumstances surrounding a death, but said this may change once further evidence is heard.
East Lancashire NHS Hospitals Trust was represented by Helen Edwards of Hempsons Solicitors. The one-day inquest will be held in 2018.
