A MUM said her child wanted to know why Palestine was not included on a children’s map she bought from a low cost supermarket.

Shaista Ahmed said he son Ismaeel pointed out the ‘error’ when he studied the map bought from Aldi.

She said: “He is very interested in geography and countries and wanted to know why every other single country was represented but not Palestine.

“The map had come with the flags of every country but there was no Palestine at all.”

The family bought the map from the Aldi Store in Montague Street in Blackburn.

She said: “We went to the educational section in the store and picked-up the map before the school term started.

“I don’t think we are being honest with our kids if we decide to just start wiping off nations off maps. Are we not distorting history and facts?

“We have a good collection of atlas’s and maps and I have never really had a problem like this before. But this one is being sold in a major superstore which I find a little worrying.

“Aldi should check all their products as things like this will make people annoyed.”

An Aldi spokesman said: “This product was one of our special buys and is no longer on sale. After raising this with our supplier they have confirmed that Palestine will be marked on future versions of the map.”
