FIRECREWS from Burnley fire station were called to a road traffic collision in Cliviger this afternoon.

The appliances were despatched around 4.40pm after reports that a person may be trapped in a vehicle.

On arrival they found two vehicles had collided and the driver of one was complaining of neck injuries.

Crew manager Kieran Ogden of Burnley Fire station said: "The crew cut off the roof of one of the vehicles and extricated him with a long board.

"The driver was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with neck injuries for a precautionary scan."
