St Mary’s College future cutting edge scientists!
Niamh O’Malley, Rachel Hulme and Hania Buttar are all progressing on to courses at prestigious universities that will lead to careers at the forefront of scientific development!
Niamh O’Malley, after exploring glacial geology, has been inspired to analyse “glaciation and physical processes that shape the earth’s surface”.
Rachel Hulme, who has received awards for the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, has been inspired by “genetics and how animals with particularly useful genes could be used to produce genetically modified medicine”.
Hania Buttar, having completed extensive medical work placements has been inspired to study medicine as this will satisfy her “scientific fascination and enthusiasm to cure disease”.
The three share a passion to progress to the top of their scientific field and their success at A Level proves their outstanding academic excellence and potential to reach their goals.
Niamh, 18, from Blackburn, gained an A* in Geology, A in Geography and a further A* in English Literature and has been offered a place at Imperial College, London, to study Geology.
Rachel, 18, from Blackburn, attained an A* in Biology, A* in Chemistry alongside a grade A in Mathematics and will be progressing to Durham University to study Natural Sciences.
Hania, 18, also from Blackburn, achieved an A* in Geography and grade A in Biology and Chemistry. She will be studying Medicine at Cardiff University Medical School.
