MORE than 30 businesses, universities and training providers came together to inspire Blackburn school pupils at a careers fair.

Held at Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School (TIGHS), exhibitors included Rolls-Royce, Microsoft, Vex Robotics and Bank View Smile Studios.

North West universities and training providers also attended, together with representatives from Oxford University.

Special guest ITV News Producer Roohi Hasan delivered a presentation on journalism to the year 10 and 12 pupils while Mo Isap, enterprise advisor for TIGHS and vice chair of Tauheedul Education Trust, also spoke.

Interactive workshops covered a range of topics including skills in the science industry, and entry routes into Oxbridge.

Bashira Patel, Director of Futures at TIGHS, said: "This was a monumental event for our Sixth Form students, informing them of future career choices and aspiring our young women to be the best they can be. The variety of providers, particularly from the digital sector, offered a range of alternative career options, making this a very valuable event in shaping their futures."
