A DANCE charity which helps those with disabilities is set to perform at the world’s largest arts festival.

DanceSyndrome, based in Accrington, will be performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later this month.

The event was established in 1947 and last year spanned 25 days and featured 50,266 performances in 294 venues including theatre, comedy, dance, children’s shows, music and poetry.

The group has now been sponsored by StormMeister Flood Protection in Preston, who have made them its charity of the year, to take them to the Edinburgh.

The charity will be performing its ‘orbit’ show on August 14, and 15 at the event.

DanceSyndrome managing director Dawn Vickers said: “We are so excited at the prospect of taking the show to the Edinburgh Fringe.

“We really hope that this new audience will be surprised and delighted at the passion, energy and ability of this incredible group of dancers who have overcome many personal barriers to achieve their potential.”

The money helps the group run its ‘Everybody Dance’ workshops which are led by dancers with learning disabilities at Accrington Library on Thursdays.

The charity also received £160,0000 from the Big Lottery Fund to help with its works in June this year.

The group delivers inclusive dance workshops and leadership training to people with and without disabilities.
