THE victim at the centre of a murder investigation has been named by police.
Andrew Whitter from Blackburn was found in his bedroom at the Islington Motel in Great Bolton Street, Blackburn with a number of serious head injuries.
The 54-year-old, who was originally from Chorley, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital in a critical condition at around 10pm on Monday.
But he died on Thursday.
Detectives have launched a murder investigation.
Officers are trying to find out if Mr Whitter may have been assaulted and robbed in the days before he was taken to hospital.
No weapons were used in the attack, police said.
Mr Whitter's family are being supported by specially trained officers.
DCI Jill Johnston said: "We are continuing our investigations into what happened to Andrew Whitter.
"I would urge anyone who may be able to help to get in touch with us.
"We continue to support Mr Whitter’s family at this time."
A 23-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on Wednesday and remains in custody on suspicion of robbery and murder.
A 26-year-old man, also from Blackburn, was arrested today on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
