A 31-YEAR-OLD man attacked his partner after an ongoing row over Facebook messages he had seen.

Blackburn magistrates heard Adam Anthony Warwick, put a pillow over his partner's face and then put his hands around her neck screaming she is 'dead to me'.

The court was told the attack ended when she managed to kick him off.

Warwick, 31, of Rushton Street, Lee Mill, Stacksteads, was convicted after trial of assaulting Gabrielle Young.

He was ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work and pay £75 compensation, £620 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Enza Geldard, prosecuting, said the couple had been to her grandad's 80th birthday party and then went back to her house. Later she asked him to leave but he refused and she went to bed leaving him downstairs. Around midnight she was woken by him shaking her and screaming that she had been sleeping with other men.

The attack ended with him screaming abuse and threatening to cut her hair off.

Richard Prew, defending, said there had been an ongoing row over the weekend because of the facebook messages.

"He described a different course of events on the night but that was rejected by the magistrates who heard the trial," said Mr Prew.
