BENCHES have been reinstalled after being removed by ‘mindless morons’.
Three benches at The Coppice Park in Accrington were damaged by vandals in April, with two of them removed from the ground and rolled down a nearby hill.
The benches were found and put into storage but have now been reinstated.
Former Hyndburn councillor David Parkins said that it was time to put the benches back in place after the ‘mindless’ behaviour of vandals.
Mr Parkins, who is a member of Huncoat Community Forum, said: “It was great news when the benches were found and it’s the right time to put them back in.
“We thought it was best to put them in storage for a bit at the time while things cooled down.
“It was not on to see that sort of thing happening really, it’s just moron mentality.
“It was terrible to see these sort of things happening, it was just mindless behaviour.
“One of the benches had been dedicated by a man to his late wife, he’s delighted it’s now back.”
The benches cost around £700 when they were first installed by the council several years ago.
