RED-faced council bosses in Pendle urged voters to not miss out on their last chance to vote in the General Election - 24 hours early.
Last night the authority's official Twitter feed had a post, at 9.30pm, reminding voters that they only had half an hour left to visit their local polling station.
It read: "There's half an hour left to vote! If you haven't voted yet, head to your polling station before it closes at 10pm."
But the council account was then inundated with posts, questioning the advice and retweeting the post.
John Wright, from Colne, said: "This sums the country up, even your local council does not know what's going on."
The post was later removed and the council's latest offering was to inform residents that polling stations had opened at 7am.
