TWO men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a motorcycle crash.

Police said the incident happened in in Main Street, Gisburn, close to Strawberry Fields, after a motorcycle overtook a tractor on the wrong side of the road.

Once the bike got back onto the right side of the carriageway the rider is said to have lost control and crashed into a lamppost.

Police said the 22-year-old male rider of the bike suffered a broken ankle. The 19-year-old male rider, who came off the bike and hit an A-board, suffered what police described as a serious leg injury.

They were both taken to Royal Preston Hospital following the incident at 8.20pm last night.

The driver of the tractor was not injured.

The road was closed until 11pm while investigation work was carried out and the men were treated.

Sgt Chris Breckell said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 1693 of May 25.
