THE ownership of a number of Pendle parks are to be transferred to town and parish councils after agreements were reached with the borough.
It has previously been reported that the borough authority is seeking to offload some of its properties and green spaces because of pressures on its budget.
Following a raft of new deals struck recently, Barrowford Parish will gain control of Letcliffe Park, a section of Victory Park and Valley Gardens while Nelson Town will get Marsden park, Walverden Park and a section of Victory Park.
Brierfield Town will get Heyhead Park while Colne Town will get Alkincoats park.
The completion dates for these deals is April 1, 2018.
A deal for Trawden Parish to take over Ball Grove has not yet been agreed while Earby, Kelbrook and Sough Parish will make a decision on Monday on whether it wants to take on Sough Park.
The transfer of Colne Town Hall to the area’s council is expected to be completed by the end of the month and the deal for Primet Community Centre has already been finalised.
Talks over the future of Colne Municipal Hall and the market are now set to be opened between the town and the borough.
