A COMMUNITY stalwart has received a Freedom of the Borough honour from Hyndburn Council.
Geoffrey Hanson, 90, was nominated to receive the prize in February for his work being involved in the Great Harwood Show for more than 50 years.
He is also well-known for the family business Hanson Trucks, which took sheep and cattle to market, and the partner firm Hanson Feeds, which trades in animal feed.
He was presented was the award at a ceremony at Accrington Town Hall by Hyndburn Mayor Cllr Peter Britcliffe.
Cllr Britcliffe said: “He is an inspiration and a great example of how community spirit enhances where we live."
