OVERALL crime in East Lancashire is up, the latest figures have shown.

The statistics, which cover February to March, were released by police.uk. In total there were 181 crimes.

The figures show incidents of anti-social behaviour rose from 36 to 63, possession of weapon offences went up from zero to one, public order offences increased from one to nine, violence and sexual offences grew from 29 to 32 and other crime rose from two to four,

However bicycle theft decreased from one to zero, burglary went down from seven to four, criminal damage and arson offences fell from 12 to nine, drugs offences decreased by one to zero, there was one robbery compared to zero the previous month, shoplifting fell from 40 to 38 and other theft offences dropped from 19 to 13.

Meanwhile theft from the person remained at four and reported vehicle crime also stayed at four.

Victims of crime should call police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
