A MUM-OF-TWO has ‘changed her life for the better’ after losing more than five stone.

Super slimmer Amy Greenwood, from Helmshore, ran and cycled her way down the scale to reach 11 stone 3lbs.

The store manager at the Co-op in Haslingden said she lived on a diet of fast food and quick, easy meals when she weighed 16 stone 11lbs.

But after lots of exercise and careful eating habits, Miss Greenwood managed to burn off the pounds.

After dropping the pounds she took part in a 60-mile charity bike ride in September from Settle in North Yorkshire to Whitworth in Manchester and raised £400 for the British Red Cross.

Miss Greenwood, who has a three-year-old son, Connor, and a two-year-old daughter, Isabelle, said she didn’t feel happy with her body, so she decided to change it and joined Weight Watchers.

She said: “A massive achievement for me was that my weight loss continued slowly and consistently for six months without any instances of weight gain and without and major hiccups.

“This was the longest I had managed to stick to a diet for years, but this is because it didn’t feel like I was on a diet.

“I took up cycling which was amazing, I never thought I could do something like that before I lost the weight.

“Now I make sure I’m having proper meals and eating right.

“It’s changed my life for the better.”

Miss Greenwood said she felt miserable and depressed when she was at her heaviest.

She said: “If I wanted chocolate I had chocolate, if I wanted wine I had wine, I always had a treat night, either a meal out or takeaway once a week.

“My outlook on food and my lifestyle had completely changed.

“I would definitely recommend everyone to give a healthier lifestyle a go.

“It may feel like something impossible, but it can be done and you will feel so much better for doing it.

“I aim to lose another half-a-stone and then I will be satisfied with my numbers.”

A Weight Watchers spokesman said: “Our singular mission is to help people lose weight in a sustainable way.

“We do it by helping them adopt a healthier lifestyle and a healthier relationship with food.”
