A MUSIC festival staged across numerous venues is set to get thousands 'dancing to the beat' over Easter.

Burnley Live Music Weekend is to take place over three days from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.

There will be live music sets in town centre venues as well as pop-up performers.

Prior to the bigger events there will be pop up busker style artists on the streets from Monday, April 10 to Saturday, April 15.

The bumper weekend of entertainment will offer performances at venues including the Paddock, Sanctuary Rock Bar, Remedy Gin Bar, Mojito’s, Mr Greens, Illuminati and the Inn on the Wharf.

The various events promise to cater for a wide variety of tastes from punk and heavy rock, to soul and Balearic dance music.

On Friday, April 14, The Biscuit Brothers, an acoustic duo will play The Paddock in Hammerton Street from 9pm while Foxes Faux, a Keighley-based folk rock band with a punk heart play the Sanctuary Rock Bar in Cow Lane from 9.30pm

From 4pm on Good Friday Gareth Williams, Steve Cook, Katie O’Malley, Frank, and Gaz Bailey will entertain visitors at Remedy Gin Bar in Ormerod Street while Mr Greens, Bull Street hosts an 80s and 90s night starting at 9pm.

For dance music follower Illuminati, Hammerton Street hosts Faction Takeover with Drew Moreland, Pat Hickey and guests Void soundsystem playing house and Ibiza vibes.

Saturday will see rock and metal bands battling it out at Sanctuary Rock Bar for a chance to play at the Bloodstock festival, with only two bands getting through to the semi-final.

Revellers at the Inn on the Wharf will be able to enjoy performances by the Real McCoy Lovers, and Weal.

The Easter Sunday line-up includes an AC/DC tribute by Rocksters of Mock at Sanctuary Rock Bar, northern soul and motown vocalist Frankie Heart at Mr Greens, ‘Ibiza in Burnley’ at Vogue, as well as performances by Brassneck at Remedy Gin Bar and Roadkill Revival at Mojito’s.

Burnley town centre manager Catherine Price said: “We’re delighted to see so many pubs, bars and clubs across the town centre getting involved in Burnley Live Music Weekend.

"The whole event showcases brilliant local music talent and our great town centre venues.

“The event will have something for everyone and we hope people from all over East Lancashire will make their way to Burnley to enjoy what is sure to be a fantastic weekend of live music."

Inn on the Wharf manager Andy Hill said: "We're so pleased to be taking part with so much going on throughout the weekend."

Blues festival used to be staged in the town by Burnley Council but has not been held in recent years.
