THE creator of the limited edition Darwen Tower Lego toy model said he has received orders from across the globe, despite selling out.

John Jacklin, of Darwen Rotary Club, has had scores of requests for a replica version of the Jubilee Tower from across the world.

The club commissioned 250 of the models when they began their attempt to build a replica of the Jubilee Tower out of Lego bricks 18 months ago.

The last of the toys were sold three weeks ago, but Mr Jacklin said he has had several orders from serious collectors in New Zealand, Germany, the Netherlands and Tasmania.

Mr Jacklin is now calling for those who bought them to sell them on to the collectors.

He said: "I did not expect in my wildest dreams that it would take off in the way that it has since we sold the last model.

"The deal we made meant that it would be a limited edition and the models, which are nine inches high when complete, could become a collector's item.

"In time the kits could be worth a lot more than the initial price of £52.50.

"I have had an email from a gentleman in New Zealand, one from Germany, three from the Netherlands, one from Italy wanting two towers, another who wanted five, one from Tasmania, one from Mexico and three enquiries from local people.

"I anticipate there could well be more enquiries coming in the future."

The replica tower being built in the Darwen Market annexe, is almost half way t being completed.

It is built out of thousands of Lego bricks to raise £25,000 for charity.

Donators can buy a brick and help finish the replica.

The Rotary Club came up with the idea in 2015 as a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest reigning monarch.

Mr Jacklin said: "People wanting to sell their models can contact me and I can pass them on to one of the inquirers so they could sort out the price and postage costs between themselves.

"Or they could return the tower to the club and get a refund and we would re-sell it – at a profit I hasten to add.

"We would use any money raised to buy more bricks for the tower in the market.

"Any kits returned must however not have been opened."
