ROSSENDALE has increased its portion of the council tax for its 32,000 households by 1.99 per cent for 2017/18.

The decision means that the charge for its services along with ‘precepts’ (levied by Lancashire County Council, the police and fire services) will rise to £1,140 for the Band A homes that make up half of its housing stock.

A Band D semi-detached property will see its overall council tax rise to £1,711.13 for the 12 months from April after the rise was agreed last week.

In Whitworth parish, which levies an extra charge, the figures will be £1,156.35 for a Band A homes and £1,734 for a Band D property.
