SUPPORTERS of a village clean-up crew in Rossendale are celebrating a £1,000 grant to aid their work.
Those involved with Weir Pride will spend their handout, from the borough council, on new hi-vis vests, litter pickers and bin bag hoops.
Funding has come from the authority’s Living Well Living Better initiative and is also set to cover a noticeboard for the village and the production of a newsletter.
Paul Hannah, group chairman, said: “Weir Pride is delighted that our new organisation has been recognised with a grant and we are already putting the money to good use.
“Our first newsletter will soon be distributed and it will show people just how much work Weir Pride has done in its short lifetime.”
Pride backers plan to take part in The Big Tidy Up, which will take place from this Friday to Sunday, with colleagues from Bacup Pride, concentrating on the town centre and village.
