The mum-of-one, from Langho, recently started her immunotherapy overseas after her drugs options of radiotherapy and chemotherapy within the NHS came to and end for her type of advanced breast cancer.

Since undergoing the treatment, her tumours have shrunk by 25 per cent, the 38-year-old said.

To pay for the remainder of her treatment her friends came up with the idea of posing for a calendar.

Miss Douglas, who lives in Worsley, said: “To say I am over the moon in an understatement.

“It’s still early days but both me and my German oncologist were really pleased.

“To continue to fund the treatment I need to continue to fundraise and I have amazing people around me doing all sorts of things.”

The calendar has two editions with one featuring men and the other women.

All members are friends of Miss Douglas who is a keen rider and showjumper.

She said: “I couldn’t be more pleased with the calendar.

“We stripped off and had lots of fun and it has been fantastic.

“My army grows daily and it’s hard to comprehend what people are doing for me in this area on a daily basis. I feel blessed.”

Photos for the calendar were taken at Northcote Stud in Old Langho and are now ready to order.

They cost £10 each and 1,500 have been printed.

Her friend and ‘Miss December’ Ellen Blackburn was behind the idea and urged people to buy them.

She said: “If we sell all of the calendars that’s £15,000 to help keep Kate.

“It is a fantastic cause and will help enormously.”

Miss Douglas is attempting to raise £25,000 for her treatment and had already raised enough to start.

Miss Douglas will return to Germany at the Hallwang Private Oncology Clinic in January for results of vital scans that will determine her next steps.
