HASLINGDEN’S nightlife is set to get a boost after the opening of a new cocktail bar ‘with something for everybody’ in the town.

Toria Benson and her husband Daniel have created six new jobs at their new bar Room 52, which opened on Friday, after an £8,000 transformation.

The couple have transformed the premises in Deardengate into a bar which will open between 5pm and 2am.

Mrs Benson said: “We wanted to bring a nice bar to the town offering lots of different types of alcohol with a laid back atmosphere as well as catering for all ages.

“We wanted to provide something for everybody.”

The couple are no strangers to running bars in Rossendale as Mr Benson currently manages the Qube Nightclub in Bank Street, Rawtenstall.

Mrs Benson, 27, said they have spent £8,000 on the refurbishment and that extra roles will be created once the business becomes more established.

She said: “We have employed local people who will be working on a regular basis, especially when we are busy over Christmas.

“My husband and I are both experienced in running pubs and clubs and Room 52 will be a great bar.

“We will be serving cocktails, some nice ales, premium spirits and good bottled beers.

“It’s a little bit different than anywhere else in the area and to add to the atmosphere there will be some great background music.

“From cocktails to mini bottles of Prosecco, we are sure it will be the place to be.”

Room 52 opened last week and local councillors have welcomed the couple’s new venture.

Cllr Marilyn Proctor said: “It’s excellent news for the town and I know that a lot of people are looking forward to it opening.

“Haslingden has become a little boom town of late and anything quirky like this can only add to its thriving nightlife.

“The couple have spent a lot of time doing it up and the work looks well, it’s going to be a great place to open just in time for Christmas.”
