A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy fighting liver cancer is about to start the last recognised treatment for his condition.

Brave Charlie Procter was diagnosed with stage four Hepatoblastoma, a form of liver cancer, in February this year aged just two.

He has since endured 10 rounds of chemotherapy, followed by a further five rounds, and is now set to start radiotherapy on Monday.

His family are looking to raise funds for the youngster to help him ‘make memories’.

Charlie’s mum Amber Schofield, 22, said she has been told her son has a 25 per cent chance of survival.

The mum-of-two said: “Radiotherapy is the last treatment option for Charlie that may work, after that it is completely experimental treatments.

“You hear people saying you don’t know what it’s like until it happens to you, but it’s true.

“When they first told us he had a tumour we were devastated.

“It’s great the support we’ve got, we just have to enjoy the moments we have.”

Support for Charlie is provided by his mother, his father Ben Procter 27, and five-month-older sister Jessica.

In January his parents took him to hospital with constipation and concerns about visible veins on his chest.

He was then taken to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital on February 1, where it was discovered he had several small tumours on his liver.

Charlie’s family have set up Charlie’s Chapter, a group, initially formed to help keep relatives who lived further way in the loop.

However they then gained support from strangers who were touched by the story.

Amber said they then started raising money for Charlies Memories, a fund which pays for his hospital transport costs and special days out.

The fund was recently boosted by more than £2,000 thanks to a fashion show arranged by Extreme Women’s Designer Wear of Accrington.

The charity fashion event even had a special appearance from Charlie himself.
