BLACKBURN Rovers supporters have confirmed they will stage a demonstration against the club’s owners Venky’s in the televised Championship match at home to Wolves on Saturday, October 29.

Organisers are urging their fellow fans to take part in the 1875 protest in the Ewood Park clash with Wolves which will kick-off at 5.30pm and be shown live on Sky.

Rovers were formed in 1875 and supporters are being asked not to take their seats until the 18th minute and to leave their seats on the 75th minute regardless of what the score is.

They are also asked to get behind the team as they normally would from the 18th to the 75th minute.

Organisers are hoping the demonstration will help get Venky’s to sell the club.

Glen Mullan, who is involved in the organisation of the protest, said: “1875 witnessed the birth of one of England’s oldest clubs, which for 141 years has gone on to be England’s most successful town team.

“2010 witnessed the arrival of the Rao family, who promised to respect and build on the club’s famous heritage.

“Six years later, through complete negligence and incompetence, they have almost destroyed the club.

“The televised home fixture against Wolves gives the fans the opportunity to let their feelings be known to the wider football family.

“The 1875 protest, which will see supporters only take their seats in the 18th minute, and leave them again in the 75th minute, is being organised to deliver the message that supporters of Blackburn Rovers are united and want Venky’s to sell the club.”

The demonstration was first mooted at an open public meeting in Blackburn last month which was attended by more than 350 supporters.

  • Blackburn Rovers fans unhappy with how Venky’s are running the club are invited to attend a meeting at Ewood Park Working Men’s Club, Bolton Road, tomorrow (7pm start).
