PASSENGERS on a train took a baby off a drunken man’s knee after he fell asleep.
Blackburn magistrates heard when John Anthony Briggs was roused he became abusive towards the concerned citizens who were holding his baby.

Briggs, 35, of Thakeray Road, Bradford, pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a child and being drunk and disorderly on Blackburn Railway Station. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
Briggs was arrested at Blackburn Railway Station and the child left in the care of its mother who was sober.
Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said the couple had been to Blackpool for the day. She was on the train but not in the same carriage because they had rowed.
