A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries after being hit by a car in Colne.
The boy was crossing Varley Street at around 4pm yesterday and suffered an open fracture to the lower right leg.

He was airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where he remains this morning.
The female driver of a black Peugeot Active was not thought to be seriously injured.
No arrests have been made.
A road closure was put in place whilst the boy was treated and accident investigation work was carried out.
