A 21-YEAR-OLD man assaulted his wife of three weeks as they waited outside a Manchester prison for a relative who was visiting.
Blackburn magistrates heard Jimmy Maughan later found himself locked out of the family home and smashed a window to get in.

Maughan, of Dall Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to assaulting Donna Maughan and damaging a window belonging to her. He also pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and without insurance on a separate occasion.
He was made subject to a community order for 12 months and ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work, fined £240 with £60 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 17 months.
Philippa White, prosecuting, said Mrs Maughan told police that since they had got married her partner’s attitude had changed and he had become controlling. They were sitting in the car waiting for a relative who was visiting another member of the family when an argument started.
“He turned and slapped her twice across the face leaving her with a bloody nose,” said Mrs White. John Rusius, defending, said the couple had a ‘stupid’ argument outside the prison and one later on when she wouldn’t let him into the house.
“The good news is that they have reconciled and she is here in court today to support him,” said Mr Rusius. “She has made it clear what standard of behaviour she expects off him.”
