A CONVICTED child rapist was found to have indecent images of children on his computer when police raided his home.

Blackburn magistrates heard Paul Slater was still subject to prison licence when the latest offences were discovered.

And as a result he is likely to have to serve the remainder of his sentence which will keep him behind bars until February 2018.

Slater, 32, of Dove Lane, Darwen, pleaded guilty to making one indecent image of category B and four of category C and possessing cannabis.

He was jailed for eight weeks by magistrates.

Philippa White, prosecuting, said the arrest had been part of a Lancashire police operation targeting people possessing indecent images of children.

A search warrant was executed and various items of computer equipment seized.

"The search for the category B image used the initials PTHC which stands for Pre-Teen Hard Core," said Mrs White.

"The image was of a female child of about two years of age in a sexually explicit pose with an adult male."

Mrs White said in 2010 Slater had been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison at Truro Crown Court for raping a girl under the age of 13.

"I would suggest that conviction was very relevant to these matters," said Mrs White.

Gareth Price, defending, said his client accepted that an immediate prison sentence would be imposed.

"He was released on licence in 2014 and there have been no concerns about his behaviour since then," said Mr Price.

"He admits this foolhardy search but there is no suggestion he has been in contact with any children. His sentence does not end until February 2018 and these offences may well mean that he will be in prison until then."
