ANOTHER Hyndburn pub could be converted to new homes.

Plans have been unveiled for seven self-contained apartments at The Lomax Arms in Great Harwood.

Earlier this week proposals were revealed to turn The Stanley, in Accrington, into two one-bedroom and three two-bedroom homes, following the departure of long-serving landlord Phil Miller.

Originally known as the Dyers and Finishers Working Men's Club, The Stanley had been on the market for more than 10 years.

The Lomax Arms, in Blackburn Road, is linked with the renowned local family which owned large swathes of the area in the 18th century, alongside mine holdings at Clayton and Clayton Hall.

Each of the proposed five apartments will be arranged around the existing pub stairs. It is proposed that all of the redundant chimney stacks within the building would also be removed but the external cornices and pilasters will remain.

Planning agent Stuart Chambers said: "The site is a detached redundant public house, consisting of a cellar, ground, first and second floors with a rear yard and side access from Blackburn Road and a forecourt.

"Only the ground, first and second floors are to be converted to residential use for the seven apartments. The cellar floor will be left vacant other than providing access to the electric and gas meters and utility services."
