FIREFIGHTERS have issued a warning after a tealight left on top of a television caused a blaze.
The tealight had been left burning in a flat in Oakenhurst Road, Blackburn on Friday evening.
The small candle created enough heat to melt the plastic on the TV which then caused a fire.
A woman resident who had been in the flat at the time heard her smoke alarm and evacuated the property and waited for fire crews to arrive.
They attended the call at 10.30pm on Friday.
Watch Manager Steve Johnson said: "People use candles for to relax and, for therapies to reduce the risk of fires, place a ceramic plate underneath them."
