A 73-year-old woman was left with serious injuries after a collision with an Audi on Christmas Day.

Police were called to the incident in Briercliffe at 3.25pm after reports of a collision between the car and a pedestrian.

The woman, who police said is from Burnley, suffered serious injuries to her eye, hip, leg and chest.

She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital. The male driver was uninjured.

Temp Sgt Adam Dawson, of the Lancashire Road Policing team, said: “We would appeal to anyone with information to contact police immediately.

“Anyone who can help is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log reference 0575 of December 25.”
