A WOMAN assaulted her ex-partner in a row over furniture after their relationship ended, a court was told.

Burnley magistrates heard how Kim Ada Olson, 44, became involved in a scuffle with Jeanette Drabble.

It was alleged Olson had grabbed her hair and hit her but her solicitor said she pushed her forcefully out of the house rather than striking her.

Miss Drabble later retracted her statement and told police she had been drunk.

Olson, of Spencer Street, Burnley, admitted assault by beating. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge with £50 costs.

Bill Maude, prosecuting, said the defendant and victim had separated and there had been a dispute over furniture.

After Olson was arrested and inter-viewed she said she had gone to Miss Drabble's home and told her if she did not go for her television and suite they would be out in the street.

He said the victim arrived to collect her things and refused to leave.

Olson forced her to go by grabbing her hair and hitting her and then punching her out.

Richard Taylor, defending, said Miss Drabble had been drunk when she made her complaint and never believed it would be pursued by police.

He added emotions had been running high at the end of the relationship and drink played a part.
